Sydney restaurant Longrain will close its doors after 20 years in business.

Owner Sam Christie has made the decision not to renew the lease of the Commonwealth Street restaurant, which was one of the first eateries in the area when it opened in 1999.

While the Commonwealth Street venue will close, Christie is looking for a new location for Longrain, but says it will be smaller in size. “Perhaps in the city, maybe Darlinghurst,” he told Good Food.

Longrain’s final service will be held on 30 June, but it’s business as usual until then.

“We really look forward to welcoming everyone back into the warehouse to dine and enjoy this beautiful space for the last time,” says Christie.

The brand’s outlets in Melbourne and Tokyo will continue to operate as normal.
