The Van Haandel Group and Richard Ousby have announced they will part ways after six years.
Ousby joined the group as sous chef of Stokehouse Q before he was promoted to the role of head chef. He most recently worked as the executive chef of Stokehouse Restaurants (Brisbane and St Kilda), a role he has occupied since May 2016.
“Some of my fondest memories of being a chef are at Stokehouse Q and I will never forget the amazing people I have worked for and with,” says Ousby.
Stokehouse Q has won a number of awards under the watch of Ousby, including two hats, and Frank van Haandel says the chef will always be a part of the Stokehouse family.
“We have forged not just a strong working relationship, but a personal friendship which will live on,” says the Van Haandel Group owner. “It has been a pleasure witnessing not only his professional development, but also his growth outside of work…”
Ousby will take some much-deserved downtime before making his next move. “I will take some time to relax and be a better father, get a hobby or two and work on what and where my journey is,” he says.
