A number of venues have been forced to close their doors for deep cleaning as cases of COVID-19 rise in New South Wales.
The majority of new cases have been linked to a cluster in South West Sydney.
NSW Health has confirmed patrons with coronavirus have attended the following venues:
- Milky Lane Parramatta (Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July)
- Crossroads Hotel (Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July)
- Picton Hotel (Saturday 4 July, Sunday 5 July, Thursday 9 July, Friday 10 July)
- Cook@Kurnell (Sunday 5 July)
- Bavarian Macarthur (Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July)
- Macarthur Tavern (Friday 3 July to Friday 10 July)
- Mancini’s Original Woodfired Pizza (Friday 10 July)
- Hurricane’s Grill Brighton Le Sands (Saturday 11 July)
- Frankie’s Food Factory in Flower Power (Thursday July 9)
The venues have closed for deep cleaning, with NSW Health encouraging people who have attended the Crossroads Hotel and the Picton Hotel to self-isolate for 14 days and get tested.
Those who attended the other venues have been advised to watch for coronavirus symptoms.
Hurricane’s in Brighton Le Sands closed on Wednesday after the venue was informed a customer with COVID-19 ate at the restaurant last weekend.
“As a precaution we will be closing the restaurant to have the location professionally deep cleaned and sanitised and will reopen on Friday 17th July,” reads a statement from Hurricane’s.
“All our staff who worked on the night will be asked to be tested and if necessary will self isolate as per NSW Health guidelines.”
Frankie’s Food Factory released a statement on Facebook, confirming a patron tested positive for COVID-19.
“We have a duty of care to protect our guests, staff and local community. We have been advised that NSW Health will contact patrons who were at Frankie’s Milperra last Thursday the 9th of July between 12pm-2pm.
“We will re-open once the below has been carried out:
1. All staff have been tested and only those with a negative result will be allowed to return to work.
2. The venue has been deep cleaned, sanitised and fumigated for any potential Covid traces by a certified cleaning organisation.”
The recent rise in cases is a timely reminder for venues to remain vigilant and stick to their COVID-Safe plan. Premier Gladys Berejiklian called out the industry over a lack of compliance last week before the NSW government announced restrictions would be tightened for pubs in response to the outbreak.
