Sydney chef Mitch Orr has announced he will join Maurice Terzini’s restaurant group as head chef of Da Orazio Pizza + Porchetta.
“They approached me and asked what I wanted to do,” Orr told Broadsheet. “I said I’d love to work with the group and have the support to lean on. You’ve got Monty [Koludrovic, Icebergs’s executive chef], Maurice and a whole marketing team.”
The news comes weeks after Orr and business partner Cam Fairbairn held the final service for their Potts Point eatery, ACME.
Da Orazio will operate as normal until further notice, but is slated to undergo a small renovation and relaunch under the name Ciccia Bella.
Naturally, pasta will feature on the menu and the restaurant’s signature pizzas will remain.
The chef will also take over aperitivo hour at The Dolphin in Surry Hills from 22 July, where he will create a rotating snack menu.
Orr will be speaking on the single vs group operators panel at the Hospitality Leaders Summit on 29 July. Tickets on sale now.
